"On 14th August 1947, a day before India’s Independence, the Naga National Council declared the Naga areas as an independent nation. Nagas had never been under Indian or Burmese rule before the British arrived.
However, the declaration was unfortunately recognized internationally, and the political struggle for Naga sovereignty continues to this day.
For many Nagas, this day remains a symbol of identity, resistance, and the dream of self-determination."
