On this episode, we rap with a lyricist who overdosed 5x in 2 weeks—each time just trying not to die during what he hoped would be his last time using drugs. My guest is @officialjkline and like many of us who battle addiction, he wanted “one last time” with his addictive self so he could start a new life tomorrow. We’ve all felt this in some way—whether it’s with food, habits, or even my sneaker addiction. But after surviving 5 overdoses while trying to end his addiction, J-Kline realized he had to find another way. So he poured his energy into a healthier obsession: making music. Music became the place where he could overdose every day—into the most authentic version of himself. We also talk rap, including our not–top 5 lists, which—for him—might not even include Biggie.
