Of the 3 mole cricket species found in the southern United states, only the tawny mole cricket is an invasive species, introduced from areas in South America. Their nocturnal habits and fossorial (underground dwelling) nature means they aren't seen all to often, but they are an incredibly common species, and if you listen closely in the evening times, you can often hear their high pitch cries coming from underground!
