The U.S. Intelligence Community has warned of a severe nuclear threat to the United States from five major nations, including global powers Russia and China. This revelation was made by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard while presenting the 2026 Annual Threat Assessment Report.

According to the report, Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and Pakistan are identified as the primary sources of this threat. The document warns that the number of missiles capable of striking the U.S. homeland, which stood at approximately 3,000 in 2025, is projected to surge to over 16,000 by the year 2035. These nations are actively developing sophisticated nuclear and conventional missile systems. The report specifically notes that Russia and China are testing technologies designed to bypass or penetrate existing U.S. missile defense systems
