This stone bench (replica) near Coesfeld, Westphalia, was once the site of a medieval court known as the "Freistuhl zu Flamschen." Here, judges sentenced criminals, settled disputes, and even declared people outlaws in secret trials. These open-air courts, called *Freigerichte*, operated with imperial authority and were feared throughout the region. Today, it's a quiet historical spot — but its past is anything but peaceful.
