A man opened fire near a wedding venue in the Greater Kailash area of Jammu on Wednesday evening during a function attended by National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Jammu & Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary.
The incident occurred near Royal Park where several political leaders and guests were present. Fortunately, no one was injured. Security personnel immediately overpowered the attacker, identified as Kamal Singh Jamwal from Purani Mandi, and took him into custody.
Preliminary reports suggest the attacker may have been intoxicated. Police are investigating the motive and reviewing CCTV footage while recording witness statements. Security in the area has been tightened following the incident.
