In this video, we use mathematical modeling through the use of Fluid Mechanics (FM), Heat Transfer (HT) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to study and verify a convective heat transfer occuring through a circular pipe subjected to a constant wall temperature.
ANSYS Fluent software is used to model convective heat transfer through a pipe; preprocessing, solver selection, and post processing are guided step-by-step.
The results of ANSYS Fluent simulations will be compared against analytical results obtained by using Fluid Mechanics approach and Heat Transfer approach.
This simulation is a great example to use when introducing engineers to the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Consequently, engineers will become acquainted with Fluent software's functionality and the notion of Convective flow through a pipe subjected to constant wall temperature.
