இத்தலம் மயிலாடுதுறை மாவட்டத்தில் மயிலாடுதுறை நகரின் அண்மையில் அமைந்துள்ளது.

இக்கோயிலுள்ள இறைவன் குற்றம் பொறுத்த நாதர், இறைவி கோல்வளைநாயகி.[1] இக்கோயிலில் சட்டநாதருக்கான தனி சன்னதி மலைக்கோயில் என்ற பெயரில் அமைந்துள்ள கோயிலில் காணப்படுகிறது.

இந்திரன், இறைவன் என்றறியாமல் அவர்மீது வச்சிரம் எறிந்த குற்றத்தைப் பொறுத்தருளியமையால் குற்றம் பொறுத்த நாதர் ஆனார் என்பது தொன்நம்பிக்கை (ஐதிகம்)

சூரியன், சந்திரன், இந்திரன் ஆகியோர் பூஜித்த சிவாலயம்!!!

Thalainayar's (Thiru Karuppariyalur) historic Kutramporuthanathar Temple honors Lord Shiva as the forgiver of sins (Kutram Poruttha Nathar), linked to legends of Indra's pardon and Hanuman's penance, making it a significant site in the Tevaram Hymns. Built like a hilltop temple ("Malaikkoil"), it's called "Melakazhi" and features Upper & Lower shrines (Uma Maheswarar & Sattainathar), showcasing Chola architecture with inscriptions. This ancient abode of forgiveness offers liberation, particularly to those seeking to absolve spiritual afflictions.

Key Historical & Mythological Aspects:

Deities: Lord Shiva (Kutram Poruttha Nathar/Aparaathakshameswarar) & Goddess Kolvalai Nayaki.

Legend of Forgiveness: Lord Shiva forgave Indra for an unintentional offense, earning the name "Kutram Poruttha Nathar" (Lord who forgives mistakes).
Hanuman's Penance: Hanuman, afflicted by "Shiva Aparatha Dosha," performed penance here as advised by Lord Rama, and was absolved.

Sage Vashishta: Installed a Lingam here on Brahma's advice, attaining wisdom.

Paadal Petra Sthalam: One of the 275 revered Shiva temples praised in Tamil hymns.

Architectural Significance:
Hill Temple (Malaikkoil): Built in the style of the Sattainathar Temple in Sirkali, with two levels.

Chola Period: Features inscriptions from the era of Kulothunga Chola III.
Forms of Shiva: Houses Lord Uma Maheswarar (Thoniyappar) on the first floor and Lord Sattainathar on the second.
