Twitter has officially discovered the Middle Ages and, unsurprisingly, it went about as well as you’d expect.
In this video, I break down the controversy surrounding Knight’s Path, an upcoming indie medieval RPG that somehow managed to cause an online meltdown by doing two unforgivable things: featuring a straight romance option and refusing to inject modern identity politics into a medieval setting.
What followed was a familiar pattern. Claims about “incredibly well documented” medieval LGBTQ representation, accusations of historical inaccuracy, bizarre debates about medieval cosmetics, and finally the usual descent into calling character designs “AI slop” when nothing else stuck.
