Yes this is true! Chameleons do not drink from regular water bowls, but instead they lick water droplets either after a mist or rainfall to stay hydrated. That is why I have a (home-made) dripper. Perfectly fit to create water droplets in my Cham’s enclosure :)
I also hand mist when needed, have a set up misting system within the enclosure itself AND I have a humidifier running in the night. Chameleons also gain hydration by soaking in cool humid air as they sleep!
