Описание: Heizelwood Winter - we are trialing for IGP2 Feb. 27th.. We will drive from Victoria, BC, Canada and cross the border by land and then fly from Seattle, Washington, USA to Atlanta, Georgia, USA on Feb. 23rd. I don't think I have jumped Winter since November 2025 where he passed IGP1. The 4 foot jump is really hard on a male Rottweiler so I try to jump the dog as little as possible but 3 weeks before the trial, I had to see where I am at. I see I have to start jumping Winter every day until he figures out going around the jump is not an option. For motivator, I used the toy Winter loves the most out of all else which is the red ball. I believe a dog must see the reward is available and the more the dog wants the reward the harder the dog will work and try and do what is being asked. So my goal today was for Winter to retrieve over the jump when he sees a jump and dumbbell in the picture as the exercise is a 15 point exercise and it is "retrieve over the jump" so the dog MUST retrieve over the jump or else receive a score of 0 in that exercise. Winter is in really great shape and will also do his AD (endurance test) in Georgia. He can be super fast and is super athletic and powerful. Prior to working on the jump, I had him fetch his ball so that his body and muscles were warmed up before he started jumping. This video shows the problems he had and what I did to work him through it but we ended with him getting the red ball. Hope seeing what I do with the jump will help someone who is struggling on getting their dog to take the jump full height. I believe #1 is the dog must see the motivator available and most importantly must WANT the motivator. In schutzhund, we want to put the dog in the highest drive possible and then we want the dog to listen to us instantly with one word. A handler gets 3 chances to tell a dog to do something and if dog chooses not to listen then the dog is disqualified for being out of control. Winter was bred by Theresia Vikstrom (Heizelwood Rottweilers - Finland). He is trialing for his CDX (CKC advanced obedience title April 18 & 19). He has to pass the test 3x for the title. I am training for High in Trial, both schutzhund and CKC obedience. We will see how the cards fall come trial day. In CKC the jump is like half the height but I am allowed to use his schutzhund dumbbell even though it is massive compared to the dumbbells all the other dogs use but my CKC instructor, Daryl Freed, checked and his schutzhund dumbbell is allowed.
