RECORDED 14th Mar 2020 - I created the jpg image 23rd. Dumb mistake. Look at the dates here. https://tinyurl.com/tr6ygxv During this week I spent every day exploring different parts of North Wales. None more exciting than spending yet another day exploring this amazing place, Dinorwic Quarry.

David was a famous singer and entertainer from Wales. David had a dozen studio albums to his name. His career saw him at the top of his game in Wales from the 70's right through to the 1990s

The reason why I love this song is two-fold. One, Is because I used to call him Uncle Derek (David was his stage name) when he lived at my home in Cwmbran for a short while in the '60s. He wasn't my real uncle of course but calling someone uncle was always a respectful thing to ask children to do. My Father and Derek used to work together at an engineering company called Girling in Cwmbran. Derek and my family were very close. My father even regales the time Derek said he was leaving to pursue a career in showbusiness. Either way, David means a lot to my family. the second reason is simply because of the lyrics in the song. The song is about coal miners but the working conditions and struggles of miners were pretty much the same.

I'll probably receive a strike by Youtube for using Davids song but I know this will mean so much more to my Father when he hears it on one of my Videos.

My favourite song of David's was "If I Could See the Rhondda One More Time". If you liked the song on my video then you'll love this one. It's a real classic.
