Green Party leader Zack Polanski will lead a rally in support of the Green Party’s by-election campaign in Gorton and Denton.
The election to replace former Labour MP Andrew Gwynne in the constituency is likely to take place on February 26, after the process was officially triggered by MPs on Monday.
Former minister Mr Gwynne announced on January 22 that he would stand down as the Labour MP for Gorton and Denton, citing 'significant ill health' and advice from his doctor not to return to work. He was suspended from the Labour Party last year amid the fall-out over comments contained in the infamous WhatsApp group named 'Trigger Me Timbers'.
Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, has been blocked by the Labour Party from standing in the by-election after asking permission to do so. No candidates for any parties have been revealed as yet, but Reform UK said it would announce its candidate for the contest later on Tuesday at a press conference in the constituency.
