Direct Colors Concrete Acid Stain
Plastic Spray Bottle
Small Foam Brush
We have prepped and cleaned our countertop and are now ready to acid stain.
We are applying Coffee Brown to the surface using a plastic spray bottle for the top and a foam brush for the edges.
Spraying acid stain on the surface can create a marbled effect. Be sure to cover the entire surface with acid stain. Any areas that haven’t been acid stained will be noticeable. We recommend applying two coats of acid stain to thoroughly cover the countertop.
We recommend using goggles, gloves and a dust mask while working with concrete acid stain in poorly ventilated locations. A respirator may also be required.
Allow the acid stain to activate on the surface for the recommended amount of time to achieve the best possible color. Coffee Brown needs to sit on the surface for a minimum of 4 to 6 hours before neutralizing.
Once the acid stain has thoroughly activated for the allotted amount of time, neutralize the stain with a mixture of baking soda and water. After neutralizing, wash the surface with clean water until the runoff is clear.
Please note there may be a slight residue on the surface after thorough cleaning.
Once the surface is clean and completely dry, a concrete sealer can be applied.
