For at least 3 generations, you could walk into any store carrying Craftsman tools with a broken tool and walk out with a suitable replacement. Not any more. Part numbers seem to become obsolete much more quickly than in the past, and as soon as the store stops carrying an obsolete tool, they will not warranty any that they sold.
You can, however, use the hotline below to get any Craftsman tools replaced under warranty. You’ll have to wait for shipping, but at least you get something.
