If your battle rope becomes frayed at one end, and seems beyond repair, TRY THIS before you throw out that expensive piece of training equipment. You can use some paracord aka 550 cord, to make a whipping knot, or "whipping" to repair the end, AND create a handle at the same time. This whipping acts in a similar way as the plastic on the ends of your shoelaces. It will bind the end of the rope, and prevent it from further unraveling and fraying.
Using this common knot / lashing, you can fix your Battle Rope, and get back to your HIIT Crossfit workout, in no time. All it will cost is the price of a hank of 550 cord... right around $10.
In bushcraft and survival training, a whipping knot is used for a number of tasks... mainly to keep the ends of a rope or cord from fraying. Typically a thinner cord is used to tie a whipping on a thicker cord. The whipping should be about as long as the cord is thick... if you are whipping a 2-inch diameter rope, the whipping knot should be about 2 inches in length, when completed.
In this video, Kyoshi Dave Herman of Five Elements Tactical Training, shares with you years of experience in self defense, home defense, prepping, survival, Warrior Mindset, and plenty of gear reviews, to help you learn to use simple knot tying skills, to create a whipping knot to repair this battle rope and prevent further fraying.
