How to Install ProjectM on macOS Sequoia 15.3

STEPS:

I had some requests from viewers to walk them through the install process. This is what has worked for me. If we get enough people interested maybe we this will get pushed to the main project.

1.) To pipe system audio output as an input source, I use loopback:

I bought a license years ago c.Catalina and I've never had a problem. I'm using it in this video to capture system audio in Quicktime for the screen recording and LoopBack is simultaneous piping into the ProjectM process.

2.) Download the pre-release binaries or source:

3.) Unzip or build ProjectM wherever you see fit:

I personally like $HOME/bin for things like this and my various scripts. I use this code in my .zshrc to recursively add every dir inside to my path.

e.g. % projectMSDL will run without needing ./ in front

or you can always just click on it after a good chmod ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

4.) Bypass macOS Gatekeeper:
The first run will be blocked, and seeing as its from the project owner and its open source, I'm not concerned but you let me know if you see anything sketch in the sauce 😜

You should be prompted to allow microphone access but if not, enable at:
System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
