For all the folks that are wondering how the Looperlative Sync'd looping compares to other devices, in this new "silent demo" I compare LP2 with Pigtronix Infinity (note: the Boomerang 3 uses also a system similar to Infinity to create Sync'd loops).
With all the Pro and Contra of both machines!
LP2 resume
Record and close Loop1, then switch to Loop2: first press PLAY instead of REC. This action wil INSTANTLY create an empty loop with the same length as Loop1! When you are ready to record, press REC and start the fun.
Instead of the "First-Press-Play" trick, the SYNC REC/DUB function can be used (which can assigned to an ext midi controller or Effect 1/2 switches).
NOTE: to perform this workflow, Loop2 has to be Erased/Void (BLUE status LED). Hence it is a good idea (if you use external midi) to have a switch assigned to the "Track Erase" MIDI note. Of course if you need Loop2 to be totally unsync'd from Loop1, press first REC/Overdub as usual.
NOTE 2: if you need Loop2 to be sync'd to Loop1, but x bars longer, remember you can apply the Multiply functions (Double, Triple, Quadruple, alone or combined together).
NOTE 3: with the MIDI note "Set As Clock Source" you can move the "master loop" from Loop1 to any of the other loop. Also if you have all void loops (both with BLUE status LED) and start recording on Loop2 instead of Loop1, Loop2 becomes the Master/Clock Source.
NOTE 4: at the time I did this tutorial I didn't consider the command SYNC REC/DUB (Midi note 47)! This command allows you to create a new loop which will be synched to an already existing one! It kind of works like Infinity's Multi-Sync and EDP's Multiply, meaning that Sync Rec allows you to create on the flight a new synched loop, which can be a multiple of the "reference loop"!
External MIDI Trick 1: programm a switch to send together MIDI notes for PLAY followed by REC. This way you can instantly record a sync'd loop with the press of 1 switch and no tip-tapping!
External MIDI Trick 2: programm a switch to send togheter midi notes for PLAY followed by one or more Multipliers (Double, Triple, and/or Quadruple). This way you can instantly create an empty Loop2 which is x-bars longer than Loop1. Of course... feel free to combine this with the MIDI Trick 1! ;)
Infinity (and a kind of also on Boomerang3) resume
MULTI SYNC function must be ON. First rec and close Loop1, then go over Loop2 by pressing REC/Play. This action will arm loop2. Now the Looper needs you to wait until Loop1 closes 1 cycle: Then Loop2 will start immediately to record.
NOTE: if you set Multi Sync ON and the Multiply to a higher number than 1, you can close the recoding cycle of Loop2 prior that multiple. For Example Multiplier = 4, you can still record Loop2 which is 1x, 2x, 3x or 4x Multiples of Loop1. Just press PLAY or DUB before the cycle x ends.
NOTE: 2 to turn ON/OFF Multi Sync both Loops has to be in STOP.
External MIDI Trick: a MIDI Clock signal sent to Infinity will OVERRIDE the Multi Sync function. Now the Loops will automatically allign to the MIDI clock sent by an external source, and ignore the internal Multi Sync option.

The LP2 introduced as a unique live-looping foot pedal is getting an all new internal design. The fourth generation of this product is now the most powerful looper of its lineage. Based on the LP1 GenB, the LP2 GenD packs two stereo tracks into the foot pedal design and is based on the LP1 GenB hardware and software. The new LP2 retains the unique features of the original LP2, but by adding a MIDI controller, you can access LP1 software features that are packed into this compact unit.
The new LP2 offers these features and more:
Stereo input and output
Two stereo looping tracks
Input compatible with passive instruments
Expression pedal input to control feedback
MIDI clock in and out
MIDI control of advanced features
24-bit audio interface and 32-bit internal processing
Internal pots to adjust input attenuation and output gain.
Alternative mode available that changes top two choices for effects buttons to allow switching between two tracks
Software upgrades via MIDI sysex files to gain new features in the future as they become available.
This powerful new pedal is available for less than half the price of the LP1 that it is derived from. The new LP2 is available for $400 containing many many features. Please take a look at the manual for a complete list of what the unit is capable of doing.
