thoughts-
*disclaimer: these switches were sent over by unikeys to review, they did not review or have any input on the video or its contents. these thoughts are all my own.
TLDR- super thocky switch, but like other deeper hmx switches these have oretty bad ticking.
INTRO
the hmx toast is designed by rena lab and features a brand new H2 (pom+ pyre) stem with spherical tip, pa12 top housing (with a cute toast light diffuser), p4 bottom housing and 45g or 53g 22mm spring. these are meant to be super deep but also just cute XD.
if you use transparent caps and rgb, will get the little toast on the light diffuser showing up l, which is pretty cool ngl. i dont personally use transparent caps or rgb but yea 😅. ik plenty of people do so will be a cute touch.
SOUND
i have to say, these are easily the thockiest hmx switch. they are much deeper and muted compared to canglan v3. and honestly pretty up there compared to y2, was not expecting that tbh. though i’d say y2 still is more marbly / poppy. the toast are kinda flat sounding in comparison.
there is zero scratch tho but some pretty apparent ticking noise. it is way more obvious than the ticking on the y2 for example.
QUALITY / FEEL
the quality on these is usually hmx- super tight and consistent. other than the ticking, there is no scratch, ping or any other weirdness.
the feel is also pretty nice, not as mushy as the y2 and not at all sluggish.
the ticking i have to say is bad enough for me to not use myself. but everything else checks out if you don’t think the ticking will bother you.
also worth noting that these don’t have upe in the stem composition, so not necessarily upe causes the stem noise, i would guess it has to do with the softer materials, like the pom with ptfe here for example. and like the newer keygeeks that use other pom blends and not upe but still have some ticking.
FINAL THOUGHTS
these overall are definitely cute and super deep lmaoo.
aside from the ticking, these are a great thocky switch. if you don’t think that will bother you though these will for sure make for a super super thocky build, esp with foams. and these do have a but of a better bottom out feel vs y2.
if ticking does bother you though, i would recommend going with y2 or little elf instead. personally these are just too noisy for me. even though i do prefer the clackier switch , i still do use deeper switches here and there. when they are deeper / more muted, the ticking is just way more apparent. idk i couldn’t put up with it myself 😅. would just go with y2.
thanks for stopping by and I hope you found the video and review helpful! 💙
