Mr. D. kumarage is a dramatist and a retired teacher from Bombuwala Maha vidyalaya. who was in charge of the subject of Drama and theatre . His dramas achieved success in number of occasions at drama competitions held in recent past. His dramas have secured in 3 first places, 2 second places and 2 third places in the State Interschool drama festival. He always won 3 first places, a second place and a third place in the State Children’s drama festival. He was awarded by the President award in 2004 .He is a recipient of Natyakala Shiromani award in 2006, Sahitha Pradeepa award in 2008 , Kalatheerthabhimani award in 2013, Kalabhooshana state award in 2015 and Wishwa kala keerthi award in 2018.
D. kumarage was written and produced the famous stage dramas like Rukada Rajje , welawakata pissu wagei etc.. Masha and the bear is a drama which one of awarded by State Children’s drama festival. It has studied for syllabus of drama and theatre in grade 8.
