MGS3 Special Camo Key Disc / Soundtrack Discs & Unlocks (Japan) (Snake Eater PS2)

The Special Camouflage Key Disc was a feature in the original Snake Eater menu. Found under Special / Special Camouflage Key Disc. It was found in the Japanese edition (and also European versions). It is missing from the North American version. The Key Disc feature allowed people to unlock special face paints and camouflage that were encrypted.

There were three soundtracks for MGS3:

1. MGS3 The Original Soundtrack (Unlocks Auscam Camo) - 0:36
2. MGS3 The First Bite (Unlocks Green Face Paint and DPM Camo) - 6:25
3. MGS3 Snake Eater Song (Unlocks Brown Face Paint and Desert Tiger Camo) - 12:26

The game would eject the disc tray, ask you to remove the game disc, and insert the soundtrack disc. It would read the disc, unlock face paints and camos, then eject the disc tray, ask you to replace the game disc. Start a new game or load an existing game to get the new face paints or camos to pop. Save game to keep your new unlocks.

Technically you can unlock all of these on the European versions if you have the Japanese Soundtracks

Because there is no Special / Special Camouflage Key Disc option in the North American version, there is no "legit" way to unlock the encrypted camos on the NA version. However you can unlock all the encrypted camos in the NA version by using hack devices like AR Max, Gameshark, etc.

There is still no known way to unlock Flecktarn camo in Japan. No soundtrack disc was released that allowed you to unlock Flecktarn using the Key Disc feature. At least that I know of...

All of the encrypted face paints and camos were released in later versions and were given other ways to unlock. Such as Duel Mode (Subsistence PS2), and Choosing I like MGS3 (Subsistence PS2, PSVita HD Edition, PS3 HD Edition, Master Collection).
