Wicked (also known as Wicked: Part 1) is a 2024 British-American epic musical fantasy adventure film, the adaptation of the 2003 stage musical of the same name by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman, which is based on the 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire and on the 1900 children’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. The film was written by Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz, directed by Jon M. Chu, produced by Marc Platt Productions, distributed by Universal Pictures, and stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater, Bronwyn James, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Colin Michael Carmichael, Keala Settle, and Aaron Teoh.
Wicked was released in the US on 22nd November 2024 by Universal Pictures.
