Описание: The history of tornado-related documentation has rapidly increased since the first photos of tornado damage were taken in the mid-1800s. By 1884, the first photo of a tornado was taken, and by the 1930s a small waterspout pioneered video documentation of twisters. Before that though, early newsreels in the 1910s offered the first footage of tornado damage. It would be a few decades until home movies would ever find themselves normalized, let alone of tornado footage. But, the other day, I believe I found not only the first ever home movie of tornado damage, but the first ever COLOR footage showing Tornado Damage. It shows damage from an F4-5 (depending on the source) twister that struck Anoka, Minnesota in 1939. This footage was shared by Wally Peterson in 2021 in a group dedicated to Anoka County history. According to him, the footage was recorded by his Great Grandfather Fred Peterson. It is Petersons farm that can be seen as the main subject of the video and subsequent damage. I discovered his upload of the footage while scrolling through facebook, and am taking the chance to share this all with you. It is a total milestone in the Tornado Documentation timeline, and was almost completely unknown for almost a century. Big thanks to Wally for sharing this footage with the world, and don’t forget to subscribe since much more like this is coming :)
