In James 3:13–18, James gives a clear test for wisdom: real wisdom is not proven by claims or credentials, but by good conduct shown in the meekness of wisdom. He exposes “wisdom from below”—marked by bitter jealousy and selfish ambition—as the source of disorder and sinful outcomes. Then he describes “wisdom from above,” which is pure, peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, and sincere. Finally, James shows the result: a harvest of righteousness grows where peace is sown by peacemakers.
