We start Critical Depth with The Manta. This is one of the game's faster non-boss submarines, while having average armor, and having a fairly straightforward special weapon that has decent homing and does respectable damage. Honestly, just a very solid submarine that's good at getting you introduced to the game. It's also just good at doing the objective due to it's speed and tight handling. My only complaint with The Manta is that it doesn't seem like a very good brawler, as the special is tricky to use at close range, but that could also just be me. I don't really have that much to say about it, it's just a solid, well-rounded pick.

Played on Captain (Hard) difficulty, going for deathless. Due to the heavily objective-based nature of the game, I won't always be trying to kill every enemy, and may leave the level as soon as the Threshold opens while some enemies are still alive, since leaving through the Threshold is what ends the game. (except against bosses who must be destroyed)
