Pure aerial footage captured right at the summit (836 m) in Bukhansan National Park: hundreds of hikers crowding the massive granite boulders, with the sprawling Seoul skyline stretching endlessly below under dramatic clouds. The raw mountain-vs-megacity contrast is unreal!
The hike up is one of Seoul’s most rewarding (moderate-hard, 4–6 hours round trip): shady forest trails and streams → steep stone staircases that burn your legs → thrilling exposed rocky scrambles with fixed ropes and handrails → small temples tucked in the mountainside → final granite slab push to the crowded peak with insane 360° views.
Along popular routes (like Bukhansanseong course), you pass right by sections of the historic Bukhansanseong Fortress wall. Its origins date back to ~132 AD during the Baekje Kingdom (under King Gaeru), built as a northern defense for the capital against Goguryeo invasions. Though ancient remnants may exist, the impressive stone walls, gates, and structures you see today were largely rebuilt in 1711 during the Joseon Dynasty (under King Sukjong) to protect Seoul after wars like the Imjin and Manchu invasions. A cool blend of deep history and rugged nature on the way up!
This video is all about the summit payoff – enjoy the views from above!
