💬 LESSON DESCRIPTION:
In this lesson from my course, Nail the Changes, I demonstrate using one of the exercises in the programs called the "Continuous Chord Tone Exercise."
This exercise is actually made up of multiple chord tone soloing exercises because it can be practiced at a variety of skill levels.
If I was only allowed to work on ONE improvisation exercise for the rest of my life, it would be this one.
This process shows us how to target the harmony and chord changes of a song with extreme precision, note for note, and find voice leading by thoroughly mapping out all the chord tones, guitar shapes, and arpeggios to find every instance of where they connect by step.
In this video I demonstrate one of the chord tone soloing exercises in this process - starting on only TWO strings in ONE single fretboard position.
It's those kinds of limitations in our practicing that ultimately set us free in our real playing.
