"Green Onions" is an instrumental composition recorded in 1962 by Booker T. & the M.G.'s. It is described as "one of the most popular instrumental rock and soul songs ever" and as one of "the most popular R&B instrumentals of its era". The tune is a twelve-bar blues using a Hammond B3 organ melody line. Booker T. Jones wrote it when he was 17.
I always liked the song so I put a bass / drums / guitar backing track together. Then I used the Hammond B3 voice on my Akai 5000S to play the melody line. I could have used my Electro 3 keyboard but I wanted listeners to hear the power and capability of the AKAI electric wind instrument.
