Choosing between positioning technology has often meant compromise.
While optical total station solutions have traditionally been better for accuracy, they come with challenges when working on a national OS grid or a big site with a number of obstructions.
On the other hand, GNSS solutions don’t give the same level of accuracy, but give flexibility to work on national or local coordinate systems and on large sites without being blocked by obstructions.
Topcon’s Hybrid positioning system utilises the best features of both of these tools in a combined solution, to give you the best of both worlds.
Our Hybrid system combines any Topcon robotic total station with a lightweight GNSS receiver placed on top of a prism, which allows for faster work in the field than would be possible using either as a stand-alone solution.
