Seneca Valley Virtual Choir - You Raise Me Up

Описание: Over 500 chorus students in grades 7-12 participated in a project this spring to create a groundbreaking virtual choir. It was created to provide the students with a spring chorus performance for their own families to enjoy!

The song “You Raise Me Up” was chosen as an acknowledgement to the graduating seniors.

“It’s a long-standing tradition to end the spring Senior High Chorus Concert with that song,” says Claire Barker, choir director at Ryan Gloyer Middle School. “It’s a rite of passage all seniors look forward to, and we felt it was important that these seniors got that same moment.”

All three choir directors—Aaron Magill of the SV Senior High, Bobi-Jean Alexander of the SV Intermediate High, and Claire Barker of Ryan Gloyer Middle School—came together for this project, collecting recordings from students and collaborating on the final project. From there, the video was created by Barker’s husband, Alex.

The project took over 100 hours to complete.

Senior Micah Link says, “Being part of this project means I get to sing with my favorite people one last time and make my voice heard."

"Watching the project was pretty emotional for me," says Junior Bryce White. "I know it wasn’t in person, but seeing all of the seniors that I’ve come to know perform one last time still made me very sad. I miss them so much already, and seeing that really just cemented in my mind that I probably won’t see most of them ever again."

“We always say that our choir program is a family more than anything else," says Barker. "I think this project speaks to that more than anything.”
