Bihar Political Change: BJP Set to Get First CM in Bihar After 22 Years?

Описание: Bihar may soon see a major political change. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is likely to move to the Rajya Sabha after serving as CM for over 22 years.

Sources say his nomination papers for the fifth Rajya Sabha seat from Bihar are ready, with only his signature pending. He may resign after the March 16 Rajya Sabha elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, which emerged as the single largest party with 89 seats in the November 2025 elections, is pushing to claim the Chief Minister’s post for the first time in Bihar.

As part of the possible arrangement, Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar may be made Deputy Chief Minister, marking his political debut.

Talks between BJP leaders and Nitish Kumar are reportedly ongoing as Bihar prepares for a possible power transition.
