Tourism Boom – Illinois welcomed a record 113 million visitors in 2024, spending $48.5 billion statewide and generating $4.7 billion in tax revenue. Chicago led the surge, but the impact is being felt across the state thanks to investments in Route 66 projects, festivals, and the award-winning “Middle of Everything” campaign.

Volunteer Recognition – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) honored 11 outstanding volunteers and organizations for their work in conservation, historic preservation, and education, from restoring mills to leading safety programs and maintaining trails.
