2025/2026 Proton eMAS 5 EV ( e.MAS 5 / Geely Star Wish) First Test Drive

Описание: Hello again. This is our impressions and opinions after Proton allowed us a go with the upcoming (as at upload) 2025 2026 Proton e.MAS 5 battery electric vehicle (BEV). Do note that the test drive was under strict embargo rules so they unfortunately had a non stickered eMAS 5 out beside the stickered one and only allowed us to show the stickered one. It made footage hard. So you will only see me babbling on about the car. But if you want to know my opinion, this is it.

This is based on the Geely Star Wish and it set to be priced between 60k - 80k Malaysian Ringgit.
We have to say that at that price and how it drives, handles and is equipped, it could be actually worth it if this is your first ever EV to try out. Your exposure in terms of financial outlay is low and you get to try an EV out.
The e.MAS 5 is interesting in that it is not a SUV. It is just a B segment hatchback and that makes it interesting. I prefer driving cars rather than SUVs actually and after driving the car I have to say it drives extremely well.
Why? Most likely because it is a rear motor and rear wheel drive hatchback so cornering is crisp and it actually makes the 1,600kg aprx EV feel lighter than it is.

It has about 410km CLTC range (which I think should make about 320-330km real world range ), a 0-100kmh time of slightly under 8 seconds and a top speed of 140kmh (due to it being a single speed urban EV with a smallish motor and battery). But it drives well.
As stated, if priced at around 60-80k RM, it could be a good second/city car or for those curious to try an EV without breaking the bank.
