We spend a lot of time being told that our attention is broken — that we’re too distracted, too anxious, too ADHD, not focused or optimized enough for modern life.
What if the problem isn’t us?
In this video, I’m thinking out loud about the idea of the human construct — how things like productivity, money, social media, and even the way we define mental health only make sense inside systems we created ourselves. When attention becomes a product, ordinary human behavior starts to look like a defect.
I’m not denying that anxiety, depression, or ADHD are real experiences. I live with them. What I’m questioning is why we’re so quick to pathologize people instead of interrogating the systems that demand constant optimization, branding, and self-correction.
For me, the antidote isn’t better hacks or more discipline — it’s real, unoptimized attention: making music with people, working on things together, walking without tracking it, calling someone just to talk, and “wasting time” in ways that don’t serve an algorithm.
If this resonates, I hope it encourages you to be a little gentler with yourself — and a little more suspicious of the systems that tell you you’re the problem.
