To counter this emerging and formidable threat, the U.S. military sought to develop a mobile anti-aircraft vehicle capable of effectively defending its troops. This initiative led to the creation of the M13 and M14 Multiple Gun Motor Carriages, pioneering designs that would lay the groundwork for a series of increasingly potent anti-aircraft halftracks.
