Would you like to overcome suffering? Or would you prefer to prevent suffering in the first place?
Given that suffering has a kind of a domino effect, Thom’s recommendation is to prevent it in the first place, and the way to do that is quite simple. Watch the video to find out more.

How to overcome suffering. First of all, we need to know the cause of all suffering. And the cause of all suffering is lack of use of full potential.
When we try to make ourselves happy by engaging in activities which, later on, we discover happiness couldn't possibly have come from those activities, what's happened is, inadvertently, we have violated the laws of Nature.
You know, we didn't, nobody intentionally sets out to do that. "I think I'll go and violate some laws of Nature now. You know, I'll violate the laws of Nature of how my body interacts with certain food substances that I'm eating or maybe even non-food that I'm eating, you know, recreational substances that I'm eating. Or I'll go out and, you know, start a cascade of behaviors with somebody in a relationship that guarantees that they're going to be extremely unhappy and express that to me, and I'll be extremely unhappy and express that to them. Or I'll go out and behave in ways that offend all kinds of people."
Nobody makes these decisions consciously like this. All we're really doing is trying to make ourselves happy. That's actually what we're doing. Nobody's trying to make themself unhappy.
And yet, in these attempts to make ourselves happy, because we can't feel out properly how the laws of Nature are in a given moment, in a given situation, the laws of Nature that govern climate, the laws of Nature that govern the weather, the laws of Nature that govern interactions between humans, the laws of Nature that govern our own physiology, the laws of Nature that govern our own psychology, because we have lost contact with the home of all the laws of Nature deep inside of us, then we end up behaving in ways that actually contradict the laws of Nature. We end up behaving in ways that go against the way the laws of Nature are moving in that moment.
And when we violate laws of Nature, then we get corrected by Nature. That correction process is just the process of putting us back on track so that we can't continue to do things that are harmful to evolution. Suffering comes from inadvertently slowing down or harming the pace of natural evolution.
Evolution is an inexorable phenomenon that is going on all the time. It's non-negotiable. Change is the method that evolution uses to move from less aware, less elegant, less sophisticated states, to more aware, more sophisticated, more elegant states of being.
And in that process, if somehow we're doing something, whether we know it or we don't know it, that is slowing down or dragging on the evolutionary process, then we feel a sensation. And that sensation that we feel is what we refer to as, "suffering."
So, suffering comes from lack of attunement with the laws of Nature that are governing the present moment. And how do we regain that attunement?
In Vedic Meditation, when we sit easily, comfortably in the chair to meditate, we close our eyes, we make use of a specific kind of mantra that is used in Vedic Meditation, a bija mantra.
When we practice Vedic Meditation, we start to be able to see, with greater and greater clarity, what is needed by any given moment. What is our contribution to the process of evolution in any given moment? We become more attuned to that.
And we become capable of drawing upon our inner fountainhead of creativity, our inner fountainhead of adaptability, our inner fountainhead of stability, to be the very best agent of progressive change that's possible to be.
We want to become an agent of progressive change. And the only way to do that is to align ourself with the laws of Nature. And the only way to do that is not through the intellect. It's through settling our awareness down and identifying with that unboundedness, the home of all the laws of Nature.
We practice that every day and suffering will get less and less and then it stops.
