The Monarch Programs consist of five different service options including Monarch Academy, Life Coaching, Real World 101, Home & Community Based Individual Supports and Monarch Living. The innovative program allows for service options to be purchased alone, or as a package to allow for young adults with disabilities and their families to choose the program(s) that are best suited for them.
Monarch Academy is a post-transition, community-based program for young adults with disabilities. Using the community as a classroom, the Monarch Academy fosters the development of a wide range of meaningful skills that facilitate social relation¬ships, self esteem, employment and recreation. The Academy is designed for young adults who are eager to learn, enjoy an active schedule with a wide variety of experiences and social interaction with peers.
Monarch Academy takes place at Ray Graham Association Hanson Center in Burr Ridge. Participants meet in the Monarch Academy room located in the Gutmer building. This is a stand-alone building that also houses the Maple Grove Montessori Program. The Academy classroom services as the "hub" for planning for and transitioning to daily community activities.
Monarch Living is a residential program that provides housing and support services to young adults with mild developmental disabilities. Services are provided in a 4-unit apartment building conveniently located in downtown Elmhurst, near public transportation, shopping, the public library, YMCA, and Elmhurst College.
For more than 60 years, the Ray Graham Association for People with Disabilities has been serving children and adults with developmental disabilities. Ray Graham Association provides a broad array of services and support, including early intervention, residential, day programs and supported employment services to nearly 2,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities. Ray Graham Association is honored to be the first developmental disability organization to be accredited by the Council on Quality Leadership using the Quality Measures 2005 and Person-Centered Excellence 2010 and the United Way 2011 Agency of the Year.
