Описание: Dmitry Shevchenko is a Russian foil fencer who won Olympic team gold in 1996 in Atlanta and individual bronze medalist of 2000 Olympic games that took place in Sydney. He was a member of the USSR and Russian national teams from 1987 to 2000 years. From 2000 to 2004 he was head coach of the Russian men's foil team. At 1995 World Championship in La Haye, Dmitry proved his excellence in final matches, leaving no chance to his opponents. In the semi-finals, Shevchenko defeated Sergei Golubitsky 15:5, and in the final, he crushed Jose Guerra 15:3. The gold team medal at the 1996 Olympic Games was an emotional one, which also showed Dmitriy's technical and tactical skills. In the semifinals, Russia faced Cuba, and considering their previous match in 1995, when Russia lost 45-31, the Russian team with its leader Dmitry was in the role of the underdogs. However, Dmitry Shevchenko, Ilgar Mamedov, and Vladislav Pavlovich, not only won the match against Cuba 45:44, but also beat Poland in the final.
