"Triptych 0811"
My dream may be your reality
Ella Fiskum Danz draws inspiration from the visual art triptych, in which three images or panels are separate yet somehow linked together. Fiskum's new work, "Triptych 0811" journeys into the inner world of aspirations bound by the obstacles of real-life. In this theatrical dreamscape, the characters range from the marginalized, the vain, to the prima ballerina. With live performance by a legendary rock guitarist, the characters' pose a challenge to perceptions of sensuality and moral edifice. Tensions build between dreams and reality as the characters morph through multiple representations of female archetypes:
This single mother resigns herself to an art form of lower moral status.
This female Hollywood starlet, embodied by a man, is tormented by her empty expectations.
A prima ballerina on top of her game basks in the ephemeral role of Swan Lake.
