The Indore Duronto Express is a superfast express train of the Indian Railways connecting Mumbai Central (BCT) to Indore (INDB). It is currently being operated with 12227 / 12228 train numbers.
The rake has 8 AC 3 tier Coaches, 2 AC 2 tier Coaches, 1 AC First Class, 1 Pantry Car and 2 EOG Cars making a total of 14 coaches.
It is the fastest train on the Mumbai – Indore sector. It averages 65.88 km/hr as 12227 Duronto Express covering 829 km in 12 hrs 35 mins & 65.66 km/hr as 12228 Duronto Express covering 829 km in 12 hrs 40 mins. The other train that connects Mumbai & Indore is the 12961/62 Avantika Express.
This train had its inaugural run on 28 January 2011. It was & still is a 2 days a week service. It is a fully AC train & uses LHB rakes.

Dual traction WCAM 2/2P locos would haul the train between Mumbai Central & Vadodara Junction after which a Vadodara based WAP 4 locomotive would take over until Ratlam Junction following which a Ratlam based WDM 2 or WDM 3A locomotive would take over.
Western Railway completed DC Electric Conversion to AC on 5 February 2012 & with the electrification of the Indore - Ujjain sector, it is now regularly hauled by a Vadodara based WAP 4E or WAP 5 or WAP 7 all the way from Mumbai Central to Indore.

Indore Junction (station code: INDB) is one of the Railway junctions in Madhya Pradesh and serves Indore, the commercial capital of Central India. The railway station of Indore Junction BG (future Indore Central) falls under the administrative control of Western Railway zone of Indian Railways. It consists of six main railway platforms. The Station is located 1 km away from the city centre. It is one of the ISO Certified Railway Stations of India.
The Indore Junction is connected with Ujjain Junction to the north west, Mhow Cantonment to the south, Dewas Junction to the north and Khandwa Junction to the south east. Being a junction station, it is well connected to Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, Bhopal, Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Rewa, Gadarwara, Betul, Katni, Khandwa, Ratlam and Bina within the state.
The station is well-connected to major stations of India such as Mumbai, Nagpur, Kota, Dehradun, Pune, Bangalore, Udaipur, Amritsar and Patna.
It has the highest passenger density of any urban railway system in Madhya Pradesh.

Mumbai Central (formerly Bombay Central, station code: MMCT) is a major railway station on the Western line, situated in Mumbai, Maharashtra in an area known by the same name. It serves as a major stop for both Local and Inter-City/Express trains with separate platforms for them. It is also a terminal for several long distance trains including the Mumbai Rajdhani Express. It is one of the five major Terminal stations in Mumbai while others being Mumbai CST, Mumbai LTT, Mumbai BDTS and Mumbai Dadar. Trains depart from the station connecting various destinations mostly across states in the northern, western and north-western parts of India. The station was renamed from Bombay Central to Mumbai Central in 1997, following the change of Bombay to Mumbai. In 2018, a resolution was passed to change the station code to MMCT, with implementation ongoing.
The station is divided into two parts. The eastern half of the station serves long-distance trains operated by Western Railways while the western half serves commuter trains running on the Churchgate–Virar suburban section of Western Railways.
RailTel, the telecom arm of the Indian Railways, on 22 January 2016 launched free public Wi-Fi service at Mumbai Central station in collaboration with Google.
