In this video I show you how I created this small painting of a variety of Dahlia called New Baby. You’re going to see how I started with the preparation of the board to paint on, then began blocking in the main shapes and building up form and depth through layers of paint, mostly working with the wet-into-wet method. I’ll show you how I created the effects of glowing sunlight on the sunlit petals and how I created a loose painterly background to support the focal point in my painting.
