EC's draft electoral roll for Bihar shows 72.4 million voters. The numbers are down by 4.9 million (6.3%) from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Deletions include 2.2 million deaths, 3.6 million permanently shifted or absent and 0.7 million double registrations. Final roll may differ, as the current list is open to claims and objections. Gopalganj saw the highest deletion at 18%, while Dhaka had the lowest at 0.63%. Patna recorded the highest number of deletions in absolute terms; Sheikhpura the lowest. Voter deletions: 6.4% in General seats, 5.9% in SC seats, and 5% in ST seats. No clear evidence of political targeting—NDA-held seats in 2020 saw 6.4% deletions; MGB-held seats saw 6.1%. Deletion patterns in Muslim-dominated seats varied—Kishanganj saw high deletion, but Katihar and Araria did not. No correlation found between deletions and closely contested seats from the 2020 assembly polls. Despite deletions, every AC still has more electors than actual 2024 voters, suggesting turnout could increase in 2025.
