Junagadh is an ancient fortified city at the base of the holy Gimar hills and famous for exotic old buildings (some from 272 B.C.) and the Buddhist edicts inscribed on a rock by King Ashoka in the 3rd century B.C.

Outstanding onion-shaped domes in every size. Whirls, whorls, balconies, arches, spiral staircases decorated a fusion of Gothic-Indo-Islamic architecture on two mausoleums with attached minarets.
