At Warnervale Public School, the Just Be calming sensory space was designed to support emotional regulation, wellbeing, and inclusion across the entire school community.
In this case study, we explore how access to a purpose-designed sensory room helps students manage sensory overload, reduce anxiety, and feel calm, safe, and ready to learn — while also providing educators with a practical tool to support regulation, engagement, and positive classroom outcomes.
The space supports both neurodivergent and neurotypical students, offering a low-demand environment where individuals can reset and re-engage at their own pace. Educators report improved transitions, reduced escalation, and increased confidence in supporting students with diverse sensory needs.
