This video is the second in the series that includes opening a mint in box IC-781 and demonstrating it in operation. In this video I have the 781 connected to a Bird Termaline 8890-300 RF Load through a Telewave LR44 throughline watt meter. I am also using a Rohde & Schwartz CMS54 Communications Service Monitor to sample the output and verify the frequency accuracy of the 781. Note that the CMS54 is primarily an FM communications service monitor, however, its frequency sampling ability works just fine for these tests.
In these tests, I demonstrate power output and frequency accuracy in each band in which the IC-781 transmits. The test were conducted in RTTY mode so as to provide consistency across the tests. Even though the RF load provides an approximate 1:1 SWR, these test show the auto-tuner functioning to eliminate any reflected power back to the finals.
In the next bench test, I will demonstrate the 781's RX ability from 100kHz through 30MHz. Stay tuned
