The original recipe was published by a journalist under the alias Lucullus, at the beginning of the 1900’s in „The Cookbook of Greater Hungary,” with the following quotation on the cover: „Collected from the recipes of the best Hungarian housewives, by Lucullus.” This is traditional Hungarian „noodle pie” dessert.

FILLING
150 g dry vermicelli (soup pasta)
500 g curd cheese
100 g sugar
1 cup sour cream
15 g butter
6 eggs, separated
1 lemon zest
2 tsp vanilla extract
20 g raisins
DOUGH
1 Package of strudel pastry (Phyllo pastry)
4 tbsp butter, melted
Put the vermicelli in boiling water and cook for 5 minutes. Make a tasty cottage cheese pancake filling (curd cheese, sour cream, egg yolk, sugar, butter, egg whites beaten, vanilla extract, raisins, and lemon zest). Place a layer of the strudel pastry in a buttered baking pan. Then spread butter over strudel, spread thin layer of cottage cheese filling over top, cover with a layer of vermicelli, then strudel pastry again, butter, filling, vermicelli, strudel pastry, repeat this order three times in all.
Brush the top strudel pastry layer with egg yolk and bake until nice and golden brown at the top, cut
and serve hot.
