Valentine Heart STEM Activity

Описание: Combine art and engineering with a glowing Valentine’s Day light-up activity. This hands-on STEM project lets students learn about electricity and paper circuits inspired by everyone’s favourite ‘conversation heart’ candy.

Conductive Copper Tape 5mm (SER1052102)
5mm LED Light – Red (EL0150-10), Yellow (EL0160-10) or Green (EL0170-10)
Glue Stick (JN1203-1)

Let’s make it!

✅ Download the FREE PDF template, choose your preferred candy heart message, and print it on pastel cardboard.:

✅ Cut out the card pieces, including the folding heart card and candy heart message.

✅ Fold the heart card along the dotted line to create the inside circuit space.

✅ Glue the candy heart message onto the front of the folded card.

✅ Apply copper tape along the grey circuit path inside the card, keeping the tape as smooth and continuous as possible.

✅Place the LED light, matching the long leg to the positive (+) side of the circuit and the short leg to the negative (-). Press the leg firmly onto the copper tape, then secure each leg with a small piece of copper tape over the top to ensure solid contact.

✅ Add the coin battery to the marked battery area with the positive side facing up. You can tape it into place so it stays secure and doesn’t slide around when the card is moved or closed.

✅ Fold the switch tab along the dotted line and press it onto the battery to complete the circuit.

✅ Check that the LED lights up when the tab is pressed. Make any small adjustments to ensure solid contact.

✅ Punch a small hole in the front of the card (using a skewer or a hole punch), so the LED can poke through and shine when the card is closed.

Done! Your perfect Valentine’s Day Paper Circuit is ready.

*TOP TIP – Smooth copper tape makes all the difference. When turning corners, fold (not cut) the tape to keep the circuit continuous and improve conductivity. This helps the LED light stay on consistently on the first try.
