Our 13 week old kitten has another scary seizure.

Описание: This is Hana, a 13 week old Bengal shorthair kitten. At 4 weeks old, Hana developed pneumonia and was hospitalized for 1 week where she spent most of the time in an oxygen tent. During her hospital stay, the doctors determined she is blind and has violent seizures. the episode in this video is a full blown seizure that lasted for over an hour. the hospital prescribed Levetiracetam given orally every 8 hours at a rate of .02 ml per dose. The Levetiracetam has proven to prevent the seizures and our little Hana seems to be doing well.

With her Vets concurrence, we reduced her meds to .01 ml from .02 which went well for several days but eventually she had another seizure, which we recorded and posted in this video. We administer the .02 dose of Levetiracetam and all seems well again. we will need to adjust the dosage as Hana grows larger.

Hana is really a sweet little girl. She spends a lot of time being loved and cuddled and enjoys playtime with her three brothers of the same litter. We lined the walls with acoustic foam to help Hana as she learns to navigate in her surroundings.

Hana's mother, Tama, is the black and white cat that stays somewhat close to her during the seisure. Tama came to us as a stray on a cold December day and decided to stay. She was allowed in the garage with heat and food then eventually into the house. In March she surprised us with a litter of 4 kittens. 3 boys, Bono, Leo, Nicky and 1 girl, Hana.

We love them all Hana and have decided to keep them together with us.
