I would consider the Beats Studio Pro headphones an olive branch of sorts for folks outside of the Apple ecosystem. Beats created the Studio Pro headphones for a more universal audience, which means both Apple and Android users will enjoy the same core features.

Beats did throw in a few extra treats for the Apple loyalists which I’ll explain later in the review, but not significant enough to alienate Android users.

What’s in the Box?
Beats made a good first impression with the unboxing — you get a full suite of accessories starting with the headphones folded away in a compact, soft carrying case. Inside there’s a 3.5mm audio cable as well as a dual-purpose USB-C to USB-C charging and hardwired audio cable. While I found taking out the headphones from the case a bit cumbersome thanks to the zipper design, I appreciated the storage pockets.

Set up
Setting up your headphones is lightning fast, particularly for iPhone users. Power them up and your iPhone will recognize them via a pop up. Tap to connect, and then you can access controls inside the Bluetooth settings.
Apple users don’t get an additional app because of that tie in, and since we’re on the topic, there’s not a lot in the way of controls or options in here. You’ll be able to view detailed battery life, swap between noise cancellation and transparency or change up what a button press sequence does.

Design, Comfort, and Controls
Let’s start with the design. These are either iconically minimalistic, or boring, depending on your tastes, but they do hold true to previous Beats headphone designs.

Interestingly, Beats Studio Pro headphones a feels like a hybrid between on-ear and over-ear headphones: I have small ears, but the earcups touch and press against my ears in several places. While the bulk of the earcup padding sits to the edges of my ears, there’s enough contact to make me believe these have a much greater lean to the on-ear style, and if you’re a man with bigger ears than mine, that goes double.

Bigger noggins might also find the clamping force a bit much for long-term listening, since you may feel even the inner mesh pressing on your ears, as I did. For smaller head sizes though, the leather-like padding might feel instead like a comfortably snug fit and the 270-gram (9.5 ounces) weight makes them noticeably lighter than their cousin, the AirPods Max.
My best advice: Try wearing them at a local store before buying or make sure you buy from a place with a generous return policy.
The right earcup features a lone power button which doubles as the ANC/Transparency toggle while the left earcup’s Beats logo houses a three-part button array where the top and bottom sections serve as volume controls and the centre is a multifunction button.

I’m going to get right on to the sound quality, because after comfort, that should be the most important factor.
These are killer sounding headphones with a lot of detail and clarity. No buzz, no muffling and no hum, the sound is richly detailed.
