I never had the pleasure of playing Seaquest before. Once I figured out what the heck I was doing it got a lot more intense and fun. I probably played for nearly two hours trying to beat my score while recording this. 54,570 was my best run.

Its actually a lot more complex than I thought at first. There is strategy as to when you should unload the divers and the best time to get air. For example, every time you surface for air and then dive the game gets a little harder and faster. This can result in some pretty short games if you surface too much.

Soon they add a surface boat that kills you on contact and will ruin your day because he moves while your air meter fills and you cannot cancel early and dive before the meter is full. The ship also gets faster and its vital you know where he is if you want to surface.

The sub can hold 6 divers and then you need to go up and unload them to get more. Divers are your main source of points. You also get some for shooting other subs and sharks. The divers have weird AI, sometimes they turn and run from you like they don't want to be rescued and sometimes the sharks carry them away which looks cool.

The sound effects are decent for the 2600. I do hate the low oxygen warning though, its way too overpowering. I'd say the graphics are above average. You can clearly tell what everything is, its easy on the eyes with minimal Atari screen flashing(which I do like sometimes lol) and the ocean wave effect is a nice touch.

In conclusion, the game is super fun if you are into Atari games. The controls are smooth and the action is frantic and challenging. Give this one a try for sure.
